Subject: Jamie Thorman's band

I was doing some searching on alumni names in search engines. I found a couple articles on Jamie Thorman (art major, class of 1996).

For a link to the full articles, go to:
http://www.artiwu.org/news
.............
June 1, 2000
"The Divine and the Profane: Holy Crap shoot for local success and beyond with an upcoming debut release"

A quote from Jamie in that article:
"When Christina Aguilera is calling me, begging me to go out with her," says Thorman, "I will consider that success."

So what kind of music comes from a band with a name like Holy Crap? Well, the definitions range from Thorman's "instrumentally bombastic," to Binkowski's "straightforward Rock & Roll," to Foster's "It rocks. Hard."

"Crap-tacular"
Local trio Holy Crap already have the best band name in town. And now they have one of the best CD EPs to come out of the local Rock scene.

Hey, seeing that it's the beginning of the semester, I'm putting together some plans on how to improve artiwu.

And I've got a question for YOU:
What do you think artiwu should do to serve you better?

Here's some specific questions to tickle yer brain:
(answer any of 'em, or just blabber on anything else)
* Should I focus more on developing a job network to help people find jobs/internships?
* Do you want to see better content?
* Do you want to see more info on Chicago art?
* Would anyone be interested in participating in selling their art on ebay?
* STUDENTS: would you like to have some alumni come down and talk about art stuff?
* ALUMNI: would like to participate in an alumni chat with the students?

I've got a list of ideas going at:
http://www.artiwu.org/todo.html

I'd really appreciate it if you just toss me some of your brain farts on some of this. Thanks.

AN EXPENSIVE CHANGE OF HEART: An Australian art collector puts up a painting
valued at $1 million for auction, but then has a change of mind and decides
to donate the work, by an important Aussie artist, to the National Gallery.
The change of heart may cost him though - he's still liable for Sotheby's
seller's commission, estimated to be as mush as $200,000.
