Welcome to the 3rd year of artiwu!

I'm so glad to have all of you on the artiwu list.

In the next few months I would like to increase the number of people on the artiwu list.

I would also like to get current and new members to fill out the profile form on the artiwu website. It only takes a minute or so! Just whip that sucker out!

To see if you have a profile filled out or how old it is, go to http://www.artiwu.org/profiles
and click on your year of graduation

the username is: artiwubio
the password is: letmein99

Note: For a bunch of the students, all I have is an email address...no year of graduation, so a bunch of the students won't even appear on the list.

So if anyone has a list of current students and their years, please send it to me, so I can get these names up.

For alumni, once we get past 1996, there are only 2 members! Zoinks! Please refer missing alumni to artiwu! There's an easy referral program at:
http://www.artiwu.org/refer

Thank you!
Matt Maldre, administrator of artiwu

Work with me at Tribune Media Services. We are looking for another designer! You would be sitting right across from me.

It's a GREAT place to work. Excellent people, excellent benefits. We are not overworked, it is a VERY NICE place to work. I am very happy there. You will be too! We do design print/online promotional/marketing materials for cartoons you see in the newspaper. And promotional materials for other syndicated stuff like the games, columnists, entertainment listings. We work in the beautiful historic Tribune Tower. (see my address below).

Your resume will get extra special attention if you send it to me.

Or you can email it to me at:

This coming Sunday Chicago Tribune will have a display ad in it. Beat the crowd and see a pdf of this ad at:

Here's the job description from careerpath.com:

Complete Listing:

This individual will work with other members of the design and marketing teams to create high quality print and online promotional and marketing materials.

Proficiency with Macintosh software is essential with specific knowledge of Quark, Illustrator, PhotoShop and ImageReady. Illustration skills are a plus.

Come on! Send your resume now. I usually post jobs available at the Tribune Company, but it's a true rarity that my division is hiring another designer.

Subject: Font question in Quark

I've got a question for all you graphic designers out there. Quark has been driving me crazy lately. All of my fonts are listed alphabetically, rather than by their families. Needless to say, I spending a ton o time scrolling and looking for the font I need and am getting really fed up with it. I'm using Quark 4.1, and Suitcase 8. Anybody encountered this too? By the way, the fonts show up w/in their families in all my other programs (Illustrator 9, Photoshop, etc.).

Help!

ART HISTORY HOBOS ON TOUR:
"Since it began 29 years ago, Artrain USA, one of the oldest of an increasing number of museums on wheels, has brought original artworks by Picasso and Warhol, Calder and O'Keeffe, Norman Rockwell and Robert Rauschenberg, to more than 600 towns and cities in 44 states. It has gone to big cities like Baltimore, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Washington, but more often its destination isn't even a whistle stop anymore - places like Zeeland, Mich.; Plant City, Fla., and Parkers Prairie, Minn."
